Kelowna is a city situated in the southern British Columbia with a population of approximately 105,000 people. The city abounds in tourist attractions, having a diversified economy and an active cultural life. The biggest attraction in Kelowna is actually its beautiful lake beaches and its year-round recreational pursuits. The city is placed on the Okanagan Lake in the Okanagan Valley. It also hosts the seat of the Regional District of the Central Okanagan and at the same time it is the third largest city in British Columbia, being one of the fastest growing cities in North America. Kelowna is also considered to be one of the most desired cities in the world to reside in.

The city was first settled by missionaries in the year 1859 and was officially incorporated in Canada in 1905. Its neighbouring towns are also very attractive for the tourists, Westbank with its beautiful lake beaches, Lake Country and Vernon are only a few of them. Most people here work in the service industry that is why the city became very rapidly the largest city in the tourist-oriented Okanagan Valley. The most popular summer activity here is boating and during the winter season most tourists are taking over the Big White Ski Resort.

Kelowna is also a wine producer with a worldwide reputation. There are a lot of vineyards in the neighbourhood the climate being perfect for the many wineries. This city was also the home of the late Premier of British Columbia, W.A.C. Bennet. Also, Kelowna is the hometown of the rock band The Grapes of Wrath, which was very popular in the 80s.
