The heavily forested maritime province of New Brunswick lies between Nova Scotia and Quebec. Fredericton is New Brunswick's provincial capital. The non-industrial city is very peaceful and quite overlooking the Saint John River from the south bank. 20% of the residents who live in Fredericton work for the government. Most of the city can be experienced in a 20 minute walk around the central area.  

Almost exactly half way between each coast and the provincial capital of Manitoba, Winnipeg looks and feels very much like a western city due to its architecture. Home to half of the province's population and as the fourth largest city in Canada Winnipeg is an important grain handling and transportation centre.
